    Moundbuilders Country Club (“MCC”) is a private country club and is changing locations to an 18-hole golf course currently known as the Trout Club. MCC is seeking an experienced and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the upgrade, maintenance and care of the golf course. The Superintendent will manage the overall condition and appearance of the golf course to ensure an exceptional experience for our members and guests.     Key Responsibilities:

    Heritage Club, located in Mason, OH is seeking a positive, highly motivated Assistant Superintendent to work under the supervision of the Superintendent of Golf Course and Grounds. Strong leadership, a positive attitude, critical thinking, efficient planning, and the motivation to become a Golf Course Superintendent are all expectations of becoming our next Assistant. 

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Assistant Golf Course Superintendents supervise and perform all tasks involved in golf course maintenance. The Assistant participates in a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance including staffing, scheduling and performing daily course preparation, equipment operation and mowing. All planning of and completing chemical applications, record keeping, and inventory management. Water management including hand-watering, operation and maintenance of the irrigation system, its control system and pump station. Observes the completion of work and recognizes any issues with equipment and assists the Equipment Manager with maintaining the equipment fleet.

    ABOUT HERITAGE CLUB:

    Heritage Club was established in 1996 by co-developers Ken Campbell and Robert Rhein who were also developing the surrounding community. Golf course architect Andy Staples, of Staples Golf Design, completed a master plan in 2020 to both update the course for modern technology as well as allow the course to be enjoyed by all skill levels. Since then the club has built a new 26000 sq ft putting green and a new driving range, has redone all greenside bunkers, is in the process of renovating fairway bunkers, and recently renovated the 6th hole, expanding the green and adding a new approach. The Club was designed for golfers to enjoy playing golf at a moments notice; the Equity Membership capacity of 295 was set to allow Members to play without tee times. In 2003, the Club was turned over from the developers to the membership and today the Club remains member-owned.  

    The P.B. Dye designed 18-hole championship golf course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience.  The multiple tee locations are ideal for golfers of all skill levels.  While our meticulously maintained golf course has always been the principal attraction, the Clubhouse underwent a major transformation in 2016, redefining the country club experience.  From top to bottom, the Club's already spectacular clubhouse has been updated with state-of-the-art new spaces, furnishings and decor with a goal of exceeding the needs and expectations of the Club's membership.

    Full job description

    The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep program for a high-volume public golf course in Arlington, OH. The Superintendent responsibilities include but are not limited to: hiring and training all maintenance staff, basic grounds duties such as mowing greens and fairways, raking bunkers, seeding tees, changing cups, fertilizer/pesticide application, irrigation and irrigation repairs, course setup and winterization, equipment management and other occasional repairs and maintenance.     This position is responsible for day-to-day maintenance, operations, and management of Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

    • Effectively supervises assigned employees, including the following:
    • Hire, orient and train employees;

    • Directs work of employees and sets/adjusts hours of work;
    • Maintains records on employee productivity and appraises employee’s productivity and efficiency to recommend promotions or other changes in status;

    • Plans, develops, and manages the maintenance budget and expenditures, develops, coordinates, and supervises the requisition of services, materials, and supplies.
    • Manages the purchasing and application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Must be willing to obtain and maintain licensure to apply all chemicals that are needed.
    • Manages equipment fleet that is required for course upkeep. Keep schedule and performs routine maintenance to ensure equipment is always in good and safe condition.
    • Possess a participating knowledge of the game of golf.
    • Plans, coordinates, and executes various routine maintenance of course in conjunction with clubhouse staff to ensure minimal impact to tournament and weekend/holiday play.
    • Attends monthly board meetings to discuss needs and wants related to the maintenance supervisor role.
    • Performs other tasks as assigned or apparent.

    Requirements:

    • Must be available for a varied shift including weekends and holidays.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license under the laws of the State of Ohio
    • 2–4 year degree in related field or 5+ years experience in similar golf course position.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.

Annually, we host a tournament for both teams and host an NCAA Regional Championship for men and women on a 4-year rotation. The PGA’s Korn Ferry Tour Finals are played here for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship and that is nationally televised on Golf Channel.

    The Assistant Superintendent directs operations for overall care and maintenance of the golf course grounds at OSUGC. They plan and direct maintenance, installation, rehabilitation, renovation, and all landscaping and facility needs. Determines workload for golf course staff and prioritizes needs for ground maintenance. Hires, trains, and directs the work of ground maintenance staff. Assists in planning and development of budgets, purchasing, payroll and other administrative needs for the facilities operation. This position will work extensive hours including early mornings and weekends. This position will work in inclement weather.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Degree in Turfgrass Management or combination of education and experience. Ohio pesticide applicator license. Experience with professional tournaments is a plus. Thorough knowledge of the golf course operations, including construction, drainage, irrigation, and chemical applications. Considerable experience supervising and scheduling many employees. Experience in managing a budget.

This position, under the supervision of Dr. Tyler Carr, will play a key role in conducting innovative research that benefits the turfgrass industry.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    • Conduct field and greenhouse experiments focused on turfgrass management through research areas including fertilization, mowing practices, irrigation strategies, cultivation techniques, establishment methods, and cultivar evaluation.

    • Assist graduate and undergraduate students with their research projects, fostering a collaborative research environment.

    • Prepare data visualizations (graphs) and comprehensive reports for internal and external audiences, including presentations for Extension activities.

    • Participate in the development of novel research protocols, reports, databases, and data analysis procedures to support project goals and objectives.

    • Analyze data effectively to interpret research findings, draw conclusions, and contribute to high-quality publications.

    Degree Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

    The salary range for this position is $42,700.00 - $56,900.00.

    The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
