The person performs general course maintenance under supervision of Golf Course Superintendent including: mowing, fertilizing, chemical application, raking sand traps, irrigation system repairs and maintenance, structural repairs, tree cutting, and landscape renovations and planting.     The Ohio GCSA is seeking an Executive Director to work in tandem with the Board of Directors and Committees to manage the organization's daily activities and carry out its strategic direction and mission.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Manage the association’s contacts and membership database
    • Facilitate regular communication with members and stakeholders via email, social media, and other vehicles as needed
    • Develop, solicit, and implement annual partnership programs
    • Work with Committees to plan and execute chapter events, including golf outings, social gatherings, education events, and more
    • Complete required filings with the GCSAA to maintain chapter status
    • Facilitate relationships with affiliated organizations, such as the GCSAA, OhioPLANT, ODA, other GCSAA chapters, and more

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of the golf course, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and playability.      Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field (preferred).

     Strong knowledge of turfgrass and golf course maintenance practices.

     GCSAA Member preferred, but not required

     Experience with irrigation systems, pest control, and equipment maintenance.

     Must have a current Ohio Pesticide License or must be able to attain one within 30 days of hire.

     Excellent leadership and communication skills.

     Budget management experience.

     Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

    General duties:

    The Superintendent is responsible for operation of the golf course operation and maintenance. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, budget/forecasting, financial management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance on irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues.     Basic Functions:

    Primary Duties:

    • Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and wetlands on the facility grounds.
    • Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, the preparation of soil plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements and tending to high stress areas.
    • Provides detailed annual plan for the various property levels and the designated landscaping areas. Includes rotational design to provide facility with fresh, eye-catching, interesting and pleasant atmosphere.
    • Manages an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems, and provides monthly reporting on water usage.
    • Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff. Conducts employee performance evaluations and exercises disciplinary action.
    • Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
    • Oversees subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment. Plans and budgets for additional or replacement capital equipment.
    • Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club's grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers.
    • Develops annual operating budget and plans for maintenance and capital improvement projects.
    • Maintains records and completes required reporting. Order parts, supplies and equipment as needed.
    • Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to members.
    • Coordinates snow removal and winter maintenance activities when necessary.

    Assistant Equipment Technician

    NCR Country Club is actively seeking a motivated, full-time assistant equipment technician to be apart of our turfgrass team. This position is designed to provide support to lead equipment technician, as well as preforming cutting unit inspection and maintenance, among other duties. We are looking for an individual that possesses a mindset for attention to detail, as well as the ambition to learn and develop in this role.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Communicate with Equipment Manager regarding any needs/problems relating to maintenance or repair with equipment.
    • Provide training to new team members for proper and safe use on various pieces of equipment.
    • Assist with scheduling of preventative maintenance, repair and record keeping of a two million dollar fleet of turfgrass equipment.
    • Specialize in small equipment maintenance such as string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws and rotary mowers.
    • Ability to assist with equipment operation as needed around the facility.
    • Inspect, evaluate, adjust and repair cutting units daily.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring that all safety devices on equipment are in working order.

    Maketewah Country Club is a  Donald Ross designed course, with a strong emphasis on golf located in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The club is currently working with architect Brain Silva on finishing his master plan for Maketewah.  The final phase to our master plan started in the Fall of 2022, and will include fairway bunkering, rerouting of fairways, and all new teeing complexes.  Along with the course renovations, a new irrigation system will be installed.

    The  Assistant  will work closely with the superintendent in all aspects of course maintenance, as well as in construction of the club’s master plan. This will be a great opportunity to learn all aspects on turf maintenance, along with construction,  and irrigation installation in the transition zone of the country.

    Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the Golf Course’s equipment and machinery in the Golf Course’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding member service and financial profitability. This is a full-time year-round position, requiring an individual to be versed in hydraulic and electrical systems in managing a golf course. Excellent knowledge and problem-solving skills for small engines and grind of reel-style mowers is required. This position also requires the individual to supply tools in order to properly do the job.

    Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

     Ensure that equipment for the golf course is in excellent working order.

     Troubleshoot any hydraulic / electrical issues that may arise.

     Maintain, monitor, repair and conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of golf course equipment and machinery; our fleet of equipment is mostly Toro.

     Conduct scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance.

     Work directly with the Superintendent on budget management.

     Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention using an online system.

     Order needed parts.

     Provide maintenance to gasoline, diesel and electrical powered equipment including oil changes and lubrication.

     Perform repairs and maintenance to small tools such as edgers and blowers.

     Performs mower grinding, sharpening, and related tasks.

     This role requires working outdoors and indoors in extreme weather conditions. Heat and humidity are to be expected.
