CIC will be hosting a First Green event for a group of home schooled children on May 6th, 2024.  

Members are invited and encouraged to attend the event to familiarize yourself with the First Green program and learn more about how you can host an event at your course.  (*0.5 service credit for hosting!)

**SERVICE CREDIT OPPORTUNITY**

Members will be rewarded .25 service credits for attending this event.

Itinerary

TIME:  1:00pm-3:00pm

• • 1:00-1:10 Introductions
  • 1:10-1:30 Lab 1
  • 1:30-1:50 Lab 2
  • 1:50-2:10 Lab 3
  • 2:10-2:30 Lab 4 
  • 2:30-3:00 snacks, gifts, Q&A, photos & depart

LESSON PLANS 

• Science (soils)
• • Hands on with sand silt and clay.  Samples, sifting and percolation of different soil types
• Tech (tools, software and equipment)
• • Moisture meters, irrigation software and equipment that is used to maintain golf courses and grounds will be explained and students will be able to be hands on with all of these things
• Engineering (curveball, this will actually be environmental. Engineering will be covered in Tech)
• • We are privileged to have many species of birds, turtles and other wildlife on our property.  We will give a lesson on wildlife and if mother nature cooperates, we will be able to have the students check out some bald eagles in their nests through binoculars.  
• Math (area measurements and calculations)
• • Football vs. baseball field area
